Cinnamon v5.0rc2 64-bit not working for me unless in always fresh mode

Booting in graphics mode gives me a weird desktop. It first shows me a login screen where it asks for a username and a password. The username was already filled in as guest so I entered guest's password but it doesn't log me in. I tried logging in as root and it worked. Past the login screen, the desktop was barely functioning. I couldn't right click anything and the task bar was missing things such as the battery icon. Some commands like upower wasn't working and networks were unavailable in nmcli and nmtui.

I don't have anything in rootcopy or have any magic folders. I run Porteus in a USB with the ext4 filesystem. I used to use Porteus rc1 64-bit with XFCE and had no problems before so I really want to try this new rc2 thing but it only seems to function in always fresh mode.

Are additional modules being loaded? -- remove them.

Boot in "always fresh" mode > rename the changes folder and create a new/empty one > reboot.
Does it work now?

Does Porteus rc2 64-bit XFCE work for you?

rc2 64-bit XFCE did work for me. And for whatever reason, booting graphical in Cinnamon rc2 worked for me when I installed it in a fat32 USB. I was having doubts that the reason it worked was because it was fat32 and I managed to get it to work in ext4.

The following are what I did:
1. Boot up Windows
2. Download Cinnamon rc2 64-bit iso
3. Reformat the ext4 USB to fat32
4. Extract the folders "boot" and "porteus" from the iso
5. Put these 2 folders in the USB
6. Run the installer for Windows and boot Porteus
7. I tried booting in graphical mode and it worked :%)
8. I booted with copy2ram then moved the 2 folders to my desktop.
9. I reformatted the USB back to ext4 and moved the 2 folders back to the USB
10. Booted in graphical mode (but this time with ext4) and it worked

For anyone that ever gets the same problem as me, you can try these steps but there is no guarantee it will work.

TL;DR: I managed to get it to work but I have no idea why it did.

Thanks for the update npreo. Always like tales with happy endings. :D

Is your 64-bit computer an EFI system?

I always boot in Legacy/BIOS but I can do it in UEFI too.

Porteus supports EFI booting if the USB drive is FAT formatted.
