Hi nnriyer,
Copy the module b43-firmware-classic-5.100.138-1-noarch.xzm to the Porteus modules folder (eg /mnt/sdb1/porteus/modules) and restart Porteus. Check wifi.
*where is sdb1 partition with your Porteus

If wifi does not work, then run the commands in the terminal and copy output in this topic:

Code: Select all

su
toor
modprobe -r b43
modprobe b43
lspci -knn | egrep 'eth|net|wir' -A6
dmesg | egrep -i 'rtl|broadcom|wlan|firmware|b43|phy|bcm|fw|wl|error|faile|warn|issue|resolve|found|bug|loaded'
iw list
iw dev
iwconfig
ifconfig
check wifi.

nnriyer, ok, remove b43-firmware-classic-5.100.138-1-noarch.xzm from modules folder
and copy this module b43-firmware-6.30.163.46-fw-1_SBo.xzm to modules folder and reboot your PC.

If look at these comments https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/b43-firmware/

for example:
Hi-Angel commented on 2016-11-19 18:42

vicp74 works here, Linux 4.8.7-1, WiFi card is BCM4312.
wifi should work.

Sir, Unable to copy as instructed by you. I also attempted to save module directory. However, not able to save module directory due to insufficient permission. Last time no issue. Now copying is not possible. I donot know the reasons. Anyway how to copy/save to firmware to module directory. Sorry for the trouble.

Right click of your mouse on the modules folder and choose Open as root (or something like that)
default password is toor

Blaze, I believe I had Wi-Fi operating on my iMac running Porteus 3.2 XFCE, but lost it under 4.0. Under Porteus 5.0rc2 with your updated kernel, I booted "baseonly" with each of your suggested modules, but never had Wi-Fi access. Booted with b43-firmware-classic-5.100.138-1-noarch.xzm in /base, the results of the diagnostic commands is

I can see wireless networks with that module loaded, but I can't connect; it always times out.

[Solved] No Wifi connection Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY [14e4:4315] (rev 01)

rchase, strange, because all looks good..., probably do you have router logs that you try to connect (I mean access point).
Not bad to look at logs of your access point.

Ok, remove all previous modules with Broadcom and try two modules (one of them include all latest linux firmwares)
The size of the modules is huge :)
  1. kernel-firmware-nonfree-20200721.xzm
  2. linux-firmware-20200817.xzm - https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/ke ... rmware.git
  3. kernel-firmware-20200817_7a30af1-noarch-1.txz
Not bad if you run:

Code: Select all

su
toor
wget -N -t 5 -T 10 https://github.com/UbuntuForums/wireless-info/raw/master/wireless-info && chmod +x wireless-info && ./wireless-info
cat wireless-info.txt

Blaze, my (very belated) apologies -- I must not have dealt with the modprobe.d blacklists of b43 and broadcom; when I renamed them and used your module above, I had wifi (in Porteus 5.0 rc3) on my old Mac. Your module should be substituted for the b43 support in the official release, I suppose.
