[SOLVED] Display / install japanese fonts

I'm having problems displaying japanese fonts, both in webpages & in LibreOffice - they show up as 食料品売り場以外は、. My guess is that there are no japanese fonts installed in porteus, as Mate Font Viewer only shows DejaVu and while LibreOffice shows many other fonts, none seems to corrrespond to japanese.

How could I add japanese fonts (if that is the problem) to Porteus 5rc1 Mate?

I have at least TahaoPGothic.ttf (in Linux Mint) and Windows MSMincho.ttf (in a MS WIndows box)

EDIT: I have found - thru USM - a japanese font (sazanami-fonts from slackware repo), but I get a "fatal error" when downloading it

try:

Code: Select all

getpkg sazanami-fonts-ttf
this will fetch the package from slackware and convert it to a module..

this did work ! Thank you so much

As for other ttf fonts I have, I have found that copying them directly to /usr/share/fonts/TTF does the trick :celebrate3:
