firefox/palemoon crashes

Porteus v4.0 i586 OpenBox
I have seen all the three versions modules of firefox to crash in couple scenarios. A prompt pops to send a report and quit or restart it.
1) Clicking on Save Page As... or the shortcut Ctrl+S
2) Edit > Preferences > Files and Applications; Downloads > Pick a location for saving files or the option Always Ask Where to Save produces the crash when clicking the link to the file.

I notice while trying to save a big file -- larger than memory, the file cannot be saved under live fs, no?
Resorting to palemoon under root call, I could save it out of the live mnt path.

3) Palemoon Edit > Preferences, clicking on the upside horizontal buttons of the Preferences window doesn't changes the underneath options in the current window. One should close it and reopen the Preferences window to update the underneath side of the picked option.

Please respond me how to get this a fix and if the message needs improvement.

Saving files, large ones in particular, outside the live file system is the way to go regardless of browser.

GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema 'org.gtk.Settings.FileChooser' is not installed
XDG_DATA_DIRS has no entry in printenv and echo var doesn't produce output. I've added a line to /etc/profile creating this env var. Will reboot now, and see how it goes up next.

Sorry if I didn’t understand the question. How much RAM do you have? 256mb or 512mb? Try this browser:

Code: Select all

usm -g mozilla-firefox-45.2.0esr

I can't find a way to save outside the live file system. It crashes giving GLib-GIO-ERROR : Settings schema 'org.gtk.Settings.FileChooser' is not installed.

hi make a package, you have a txz package this is the slackware package, porteus use xzm package so you have to use the script txz2xzm to make a porteus package,if you install the txz package but you do not have the changes directory active this package is lost, and the current branch is a bit to far from the 14.2 so you have to install the 14.2 version.

i had the line changes=/porteus/porteussave.dat put in porteus.cfg . I see the same url has the 14.2 version couple dir apart, 3.18 is 14.2 and 3.36 is current branch. In the other hand, came to be possible with txz package and current branch version to fix this gtk dialog error.
May we say it is good for now? Or revert and do as you say?
