Start-up Hang due to unknown background processing

Hello,

I have used Porteus 4.0 KDE and Porteus 4.0 Cinnamon.
Both the systems have a start-up hang issue (the system hangs as soon as the KDE or Cinnamon desktop is launched for about half to one full minute.)

Post that, all the systems and functions work perfectly fine. And there is no hang or lag with multiple programs running.

Here are the logs from /var/log/syslog:

If you noticed, the items that are recorded in the log frequently are:
1. Porteus NetworkManager
2. Porteus pulseaudio
3. Porteus kernel

I believe one of these three is causing the initial hang.
And my first suspicion is on the NetworkManager thing as it the hang / lag starts at exactly the same time its first occurance in the log and ends with 1 minute difference in log time, and ends with a "timed out" statement. (I could only verify the hour and minute for marking the time of the hand).

Please help me to get this thing removed and experience a smooth start-up and getting to work as soon as desktop launches.

Note:
This is not any issue of save file or cheat codes or storage issue or USB issue. Please avoid those suggestions.

That thread has taken a different route. The whole discussion there is for "how to get to know the save.dat file size and usage."

Is the network connection you connect to wireless and do you have it configured to Connect Automatically?

Change it to not be automatic and reboot. See if that helps the boot time.

Sorry. That doesn't help.

dhcp6 (wlan0): request timed out
could be to do with ipv6 ... maybe router doesn't handle it?
things to try: disable ipv6 : in kde : system settings: network>connections>[your connection]>ipv6 tab>method: ignored
in cinnamon : lclick on network icon > network connections > [your connection] > settings(cog icon) > ipv6 tab>method: ignored
or possibly: kernel parameter(cheatcode) : ipv6.disable=1 (may or may not work)
downside: certain web addresses may not be available ..

Thanks ncmprhnsbl. This worked perfectly. Both in KDE and Cinnamon.

One more thing. May I know if I would be able to identify when a particular web address has not worked due to this? Any specific error message will be shown in that case in the browser?
And then I would just be required to turn the setting on for that particular session for it to work again, yes?

short answer: i don't know :) but if it is that the router isn't handling ipv6 addresses, then turning the setting to on won't help...
@donald usually has the best network advice ;)

Try to open this page
https://ipv6.google.com/
...now you know what you will see if an ipv6-only page fails.

ipv6 is not (really) disabled and your router / ISP supports ipv6 if you can access the page.

Thanks Donald.
I tried reaching this site from porteus, as well as from other devices using the same WiFi. And it didn't connect on any of them. So, I guess my router doesn't support ipv6.

Start-up Hang due to unknown background processing

Hi Guys.
It turns out that the lag was not just due to the IPV6 support.

Even after turning it off, it still lags in the initial load-up for a full one minute. During this one minute, nothing happens. No button work, no commands, no clicks work. It just stays like that. And then suddenly everything starts working.

It is very annoying. Please help with this. I couldn't find anything in the logs now.
