Some Questions: Could not find libs.txt, uninstall polyglot

Post#1 by TanMap » 23 Aug 2019, 03:10

So yesterday I installed Porteus 5.0 LXDE on a usb memory chip. And trying to install a package via the USM I ran into some problems:

Problem 1

>I updated the database(Update All) atleast twice, with a time difference of 15 hours, but the problem persists.
>I couldn't isolate the specific database which caused this, maybe you can help me with that.
>I tried installing vim,vlc etc.The error is the same.

Here is a simulation in LXTerminal(root):

Code: Select all

usm -u all
find: ‘/tmp/xdg-runtime-guest/gvfs’: Permission denied
14.2+
alien was updated 6699 seconds ago. Skipping.
salix was updated 5675 seconds ago. Skipping.
slacky was updated 6684 seconds ago. Skipping.
ponce was updated 6674 seconds ago. Skipping.
slackware was updated 5380 seconds ago. Skipping.
slackwarepatches was updated 6609 seconds ago. Skipping.
slackonly was updated 6279 seconds ago. Skipping.
sbo was updated 6140 seconds ago. Skipping.

extra-deps.txt was updated 6270 seconds ago. Skipping.
ignore-deps.txt was updated 5675 seconds ago. Skipping.

You can change the time limit for skipping in: /etc/usm/usm.conf
The default is 3 hours

root@porteus:~# usm -g vim
find: ‘/tmp/xdg-runtime-guest/gvfs’: Permission denied

Problem 2
Clicking on System Tools>"Porteus Modules" I enter the root password but nothing happens,no GUI.Why?

Problem 3
How do I uninstall Polyglot via LXTerminal?

Code: Select all

removepkg ployglot
No such package: ployglot. Can't remove.
The same command uninstalled Transmission etc.

Problem 4
The non-root LXTerminal shows this prompt,is this something serious?

Code: Select all

** Message: 08:36:46.807: couldn't access control socket: /tmp/xdg-runtime-guest/keyring/control: No such file or directory

Problem 1
yeah.. i'll leave usm troubles for Ed_P to answer..
workaround for vim:

Code: Select all

#getpkg vim
this will get vim from slackware current which is built with python3 (which is in porteus by default)

Problem 2
known bug in lxde module (this is a RC) ...bad link or missing file, i think..

Problem 3
polyglot is some custom porteus scripts that are not packaged :
these are the files if you need to remove them manually
(bear in mind that removing them from the live enviroment does not remove them from the base modules(002-xorg), and if you are using "changes", a bunch of "whiteouts" are created..)

Code: Select all

gtk-translator-v3.2-noarch-1
├── etc
│   └── polyglot
│       ├── cc.txt
│       └── polyglot.conf
└── usr
    ├── bin
    │   └── polyglot
    ├── local
    │   └── bin
    │       └── trans
    └── share
        ├── applications
        │   └── polyglot.desktop
        └── pixmaps
            └── porteus
                └── globe.png

Thank you for your reply.

Code: Select all

getpkg vim
Checking that mirror is online ...

lynx: symbol lookup error: lynx: undefined symbol: SSLeay_version

[ERROR] Could not connect to http://mirrors.slackware.com/mirrorlist
USM error persists, even with another database update.

Any workaround/tips if I ever need to use the functions of "Porteus Modules"?

Yes I am saving changes in a.dat container. That means there is no automated uninstall command like removepkg,I need to manually delete each?

Any comment on Problem 4?

Thanks.

Disregard it. The error is extraneous.

Actually you installed 5.0rc1 which is a work in progress.

As for the USM problems, check out this posting: bundle - onlyoffice for Porteus 5.0rc1 which refers to code in this posting: [INFO & SCRIPT] Slackware Mirror Settings for USM. sesm.sh may help your situation. Or not, 5.0rc1 is still being tweaked and part of the work is getting USM to work for the new release of the kernel.
