Porteus x86 v3.2.2 - how to extend porteussave.dat?

Post#1 by glestwid » 06 Feb 2019, 14:16

Hi,

Upon shutdown I got a message saying that my .dat file is almost exhausted - 1mb left. How can I have it extended? I specially underline extended i.e. all it existing content is to be left intact.

Menu > Administration > Porteus save file manager > I want to resize a savefile. :)

To be extra safe backup the current file before resizing it.

Does not work at all. Tried to resize but after click on the corresponding button got "You seem to have missed a setting. Aborting." What am I doing wrong?

:o Wow! No idea, that function should work.

Ok, a different approach. Copy your porteussave.dat file to a file and name it MyBackupDat.xzm. Use Menu > Administration > Porteus save file manager to create a newer larger file. Copy the MyBackupDat.xzm file to your modules folder and reboot.

Check your /etc/changes-exit.conf file and see if it supports the ! command. It does in 4.0. porteussave.dat saves somethings that don't need to be saved imo. This is what I've added to the conf file:

Code: Select all

!/var/run
!/var/tmp
!/home/guest/.cache/thumbnails/normal
!/home/guest/.cache/mozilla/firefox/dxsqumip.default/thumbnails/
!/home/guest/.mozilla/firefox/Crash?Reports/pending/
!/home/guest/.mozilla/firefox/dxsqumip.default/storage/default/
!/home/guest/.mozilla/firefox/dxsqumip.default/datareporting/archived
!/home/guest/.java/deployment/cache/6.0/

The issue's gone. The reason was empty value in new file name.
