Installing Libre Office

Post#1 by julesd » 18 Jul 2018, 18:36

Hi there,

Iḿ new to Proteus, using the XFCE version 4.0. Installed on a Dell Latitude 620 laptop.
Proteus is working great. Thank you for the nice distro. Iḿ very happy with it!!
However, I want to install Libre Office but I always get an error saying 'Could not find: LIBS.txt.Please wait 6 hours for the next update.
I have this for a few days now. Is there something I can do about it?

Trying to install with USM...

Thank you,

Julesd

Installing Libre Office

Hi Julesd. Welcome to the forum.

There has been a problem with the Slackonly.com mirror, which USM uses, until today. Do a USM update and try the Libre Office module again.

Another option might be the update-libreoffice command from a terminal window. :hmmm:

Why, thank you Ed, now I understand. Will try again. It's clear now!
Will also try from the terminal.

Regards,

Julesd

Installing Libre Office

The command: update-libreoffice is easy to use. However, it would not run on my porteus 4.x installation:

Code: Select all

root@porteus:~# update-libreoffice en-US
 Starting checks ...
[OK] User is root.
[OK] Distro is Porteus
[OK] libbfd was found
[OK] libbfd was found
Downloading live script ...
Downloading: update-libreoffice-live DONE

Usage: update-libreoffice your-language
For example: update-libreoffice en-US

Supported languages:
af am ar as ast be bg bn bn-IN bo br brx bs ca ca-valencia cs cy da de
dgo dsb dz el en-GB en-US en-ZA eo es et eu fa fi fr fy ga gd gl gu gug
he hi hr hsb hu id is it ja ka kab kk km kmr-Latn kn ko kok ks lb lo lt
lv mai mk ml mn mni mr my nb ne nl nn nr nso oc om or pa-IN pl pt pt-BR
ro ru rw sa-IN sat sd si sid sk sl sq sr sr-Latn ss st sv sw-TZ ta te
tg th tn tr ts tt ug uk uz ve vec vi xh zh-CN zh-TW zu

root@porteus:~#

However, with a search on your system, you will find a file called:
update-libreoffice-live
(for example in cli mode with mc (midnight commander))

In my case:

Code: Select all

root@porteus:/mnt/sda5/1_porteus/changes/usr/local/bin# xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1366x768 --output HDMI1 --mode 1920x1080 --right-of LVDS1
root@porteus:/mnt/sda5/1_porteus/changes/usr/local/bin# ls
update-firefox-live* update-libreoffice-live*
root@porteus:/mnt/sda5/1_porteus/changes/usr/local/bin#
root@porteus:/mnt/sda5/1_porteus/changes/usr/local/bin# update-libreoffice-live en-US
Do you want to build LibreOffice 7.2.1 xzm module? [y/n]
...
Solved. :punk:
