What's your Nvidia card and Porteus architecture (x86 or x64) and kernel version?

USM Nvidia drivers: Re: OP PM for Ideas

Of course can only go on the 304 experience:
  1. Must save changes straight away the moment NVIDIA run concludes.
  2. Stripping compiler library did not seem to pose any problems.
  3. If blacklist.xzm has been used, ensure that /etc/modprobe.d copied over from blacklist.xzm to fakeroot of module.

@Evan, you can use this driver and it'll work with the pipeline option, but be adviced that this option dramatically decreases performance and it doesn't solve tearing completely, specially outside fullscreen: http://www.mediafire.com/file/dwmzy5tdx ... el-4.9.xzm

I had a 375.xx module ready for kernel 4.9 but I lost it and now I don't use my Nvidia GTX 650Ti anymore, so you have to try to build your own drivers if you want newer versions. Just download the driver (currently 375.26) from Nvidia website and follow the steps on the tutorial I linked you. If you have any problem, we are here to help you :)

I'm not talking about refresh rate limiting FPS because of vsync. I'm talking about general performance loss just by enabling 'ForceFullCompositionPipeline' option. You can read about this here and here.
Evan wrote:Funny how we all get different results with Nvidia cards because for me, nouveau drivers = fuzzy text , screen tearing both with scrolling firefox and playing video and screen shudder when min /maxing backgrounds. Nvidia Pipeline = clear sharp text , no tearing with any of the above at any screen size.
Maybe you didn't try 'smooth scroll' of Opera browser :D

Serious, 'ForceFullCompositionPipeline' helps removing some tearing, but it doesn't fix all of it and what's worst: it introduces stutter. Try to watch this video at 1080p@60FPS in full screen with 'stats for nerds' and check how many frames are dropped. With my GTX 650 Ti using 'ForceFullCompositionPipeline' it was terrible :(

The first time is very scary, I can understand you, hahaha! But believe me, you'll get it very quickly; you just need to try :)

Evan wrote:I've never used ForceFull , I just use the standard ForceComposition which basically just ensures V-sync stays locked.

ForceFull is more aggressive and should only be used as a last resort as it adds extra composition such as extra frame buffering and frame halting to try and ensure V-sync, If you look in Nvidia settings you have an option for Both Force and Force Full.
I see. Thanks for explaining. :)

Did you try to watch this video at 1080p@60FPS in full screen with 'stats for nerds' option turned on and check if there are many frames dropped?

Evan wrote:If you are using the latest update-firefox with html5 stats and have FPS listed then i have something seriously screwed up here as FPS is not showing.
You don't need a FPS counter. With 'stats for nerds' option you see 'Dropped Frames' in the bottom of the new dialog: x/y, where x is the current amount of dropped frames, and y is the total frames of the whole video. :good:

Here with the new Intel CPU Pentium G4560 (Kabylake) + Intel HD graphic card I have two scenarios:

1- With Firefox I have no drops at all, but Youtube (HTML5) stutters a lot (probably because of the high CPU usage), so it's far away of being smooth.
2- With Opera, on the other hand, I have countless dropped frames so the experience is also terrible.

Maybe at the moment Youtube can't use GPU assist when running on Intel HD graphics card, so all the work of decoding is done by the CPU itself :unknown:
