How to install Whatsapp
How to install Whatsapp
Has anyone installed Whatsapp on Porteus? I found the whatsapp add in for pidgen here: http://packages.slackonly.com/pub/packa ... -whatsapp/ and installed it via USM. It said it installed successfully. I started pidgen but don't see any reference to whatsapp. How do I actually run whatsapp once it's installed?

Re: How to install Whatsapp
looks like it needs Freeimage, also in Slackonly repo....did USM pull that dependency?

Re: How to install Whatsapp
When I go into USM and search for freeimage, nothing shows up. Where do I get it? I'm not real good at this stuff so maybe I'm not doing this right.
1. System
2. Administration
3. USM
4. Search for freeimage

Re: How to install Whatsapp
I had already tried that but tried again to be sure. Capital and lower case return the same lists. I even updated all packages first.

Re: How to install Whatsapp
@Bogomips, thanks
the other thing is that after updating the database you have to restart USM
extra:
heres the direct link : http://packages.slackonly.com/pub/packa ... _slack.txz (64bit)
or http://packages.slackonly.com/pub/packa ... _slack.txz (for 32bit)
just download > rightclight > convert slackware package to module > place in modules folder(/mnt/sdX/porteus/modules(X=letter of drive where porteus is installed))>activate

Re: How to install Whatsapp
OK. so I added both to the modules folder. I had to create the active folder. I then shutdown and restarted. Both modules showed up when the laptop booted up. No errors displayed but whatsapp still doesn't show as an option pidgen. In doing some more research, some people are just installing an andriod emulator in other distros of Linux and using the native app from the playstore. Is there an android emulator for slackware? Maybe I should just go that route.

Hi I hope you have found an android emulator which can run Android apps on Slackware. But if you haven't found anything yet then have you tried the Bluestacks android emulator on Slackware to run android apps because I am using this emulator on windows 10 and it's working perfect.jeff4892 wrote: ↑08 May 2016, 09:19OK. so I added both to the modules folder.
