Load .dat file upon reboot

Post#1 by azurtem » 13 Apr 2016, 13:57

Hi

I modified a few parameters and saved the session module, and then a porteussave.dat file

Now I 'd like to load this dat file every time we reboot into Always Fresh mode

I modified the porteus.cfg to be in Fresh mode, but I don't understand how to reload my settings file

thanks for your help

I understand what you want but Always Fresh isn't the way to go. Always Fresh means no changes/save.dat and no mods. You want what I call My Safe Mode.

Copy your save.dat file to another file and name it save.dat.xzm. Then create a new boot menu option by copying the Graphic Mode entry and change the changes= option to extramod= pointing it to the save.dat.xzm file.

When you boot you will see your changes but no one will be able to change them or add to them. :good:

azurtem, a secondary benefit of the .xzm file, if you use the .dat file to make updates to the config and they don't work or screw things up you can copy the .xzm file back to the .dat file. :good:

Bogomips, once a thread is marked solved you should consider locking it so no further postings can be added to it. And threads not solved could be marked Unsolved by the mods. :D
