I find myself looking for this info through Google but I thought, just maybe, there is a compiled list of To-Do's someplace.
Things like making Chrome browser display a web page "normally" without weirdness (like what the page would look like by default if viewing from Windows 7), customizing your desktop and what not. That's was just off the top of my head and I'm still ingesting coffee...
I am new to Slackware but not new to Linux. Debian is where I usually dwell. Things are a little different I'm finding out. Not bad - just different.
Is there a "## things to do after installing Porteus"?

--> things to do after installing Porteus <--
enjoy it
delete windows ----- just kidding..
seriously:
Nobody knows what daily tasks you have to do.--> What programs you need,
or how the desktop should look like in order to meet your needs.
The only recommendation is
start digging deeper into the menus -- you will be able to adjust (mostly) everything to your liking.
oh, one thing, you may want to enable the firewall.

Install all your favorite packages with usm (package manager) to test the limit of slackware, including the sbo option:
Install printing and scanning facilities.
Code: Select all
usm -u all
usm -h

Re: Is there a "## things to do after installing Porteus"?
I started doing that and it works quite well. USM is like Synaptic package manager on Ubuntu (or apt-get on Debian). I've been getting an error lately updating the alien repo but I update each manually now and the error doesn't come up anymore. Alien isn't updated as a result but I can live with that for now.
I don't print nor scan anything. Ever. Never had a need to.
What is this sbo option you speak of? I'm still wrapping my head around modules and bundles.

This is the option of porteus to build packages from source. Sometime you need to look at the install or readme packages that you will find in the /tmp folder to provide the necessary dependencies.
Have fun.
