Won't wake up from sleep

Post#1 by Wnderer » 04 Mar 2016, 20:38

Porteus won't wake up from sleep with the keyboard, mouse or touchpad. I have Porteus installed on my hard drive. Waking up works with the Gparted linux.

If you have been of the keyboard for some time: try the power button. 8)

Are you using a laptop? Are you set to Sleep or Hibernate?

I'm using an HP Pavilion ze4300 laptop.

After 2 minutes a bar shows up with monitor icon that says 50%. The screen does not get any dimmer.
After 3 minutes, the bar shows up saying 12%. The screen does not get any dimmer.
After 4 minutes the bar says 0%. The screen does not get any dimmer.
After 5 minutes the screen turns off with just the mouse cursor left.
Touching the keyboard, mouse or touchpad causes the mouse cursor to disappear. The LEDs indicate the computer is still on.
Touching the power button, turns off the computer.

Where do I set hibernate or sleep? The only in setting in the Bios is 'Wake on LAN'. The laptop does wake up with the GParted linux running.

I just learned that the laptop does wake up from the keyboard from the console.

I found this:

7. ACPI
This is a rather sad chapter and thus very short...
... Suspend to disk works in most cases (i.e. for most kernels), but I've in the meantime got accustomed to powering down. Time will bring a solution :-) I strongly recommend using swsusp2 (http://www.suspend2.net/). It is very nicely configurable and definitely more stable than the legacy version!

Not sure that it will help.

With my LXQT DE I click on Porteus's menu then Preferences then LXQT System Settings then Power Management then Lid. I suspect your DE is similar.

However, Suspend doesn't work on my netbook with 3.1's kernel. I have to use the kernel from 3.0 to have it work on my netbook.

I switched to racy puppy and that seems to be working so far.

Thanks
