How to install Python 2.7 or PIA VPN

Hi, just booted for the first time on Proteus and want to play around with my VPN from PIA. In order to install the client, my install needs Python 2.7. Any idea if I can install it on Proteus and if so, anyone have any "easy" directions?

Or better yet, anyone have any luck with PIA's VPN?

Hi and welcome to Porteus. You may like to correct the spelling in your control panel?

I have never used PIA but found this post
https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/f ... -dangerous

2) Some decent routers allow you to set up VPN thru the router but to answer your question

usm is the package manager
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHuVCgrPFik

open a terminal and try these commands

Code: Select all

su
usm -u all
usm -S python
and choose the python 2.7 response

report back if those commands give you any errors please in case I am wrong.

OK so I made little progress. When I ran the usm -u all command it downloaded vercheck.txt and then started downloading CHECKSUM.md5.gz and it seemed to "hang". There is / was no indication of download progress so I don't know if this is just a REALLY BIG file or if it didn't work but I never made it past that point. Any idea how long I should wait? Sorry but I'm new to this.
