Hi
I am not sure if you have used your package manager to search for swaret? As I don't use Porteus but Nemesis but I am not trying to force you to the development branch of Porteus
see package manager section by francois here if interested

Re: Swaret
I found Swaret on a CD with version 8.1 of Slackware on it and I am just fooling around and trying but with little luck. I know a lot on the fourm wants another distro of Porteus but I will try and keep Slackware alive. I'm just hopping another Porteus a version of Slackware will come out soon. I'll 68 in about 3 weeks.
I'm going to put Porteus 3.1 current all release 32 & 64 bits on a DVD just in case it get delete from the internet. I might even do 3.0 & 3.0.1 too. This line might be a mybe but not sure.

I just like Slackware because I think it teach you about Linux to build packages where Ubuntu is like Windows you just install programs you want.
Re: Swaret
congrats I am just a baby at 57. As I said I am not trying to convert you to Nemesis but for Porteus have you tried to search for it?

Re: Swaret
Be sure to backup the Porteus fixes for each release And maybe some of the important addons. For example:Jack wrote:I'm going to put Porteus 3.1 current all release 32 & 64 bits on a DVD just in case it get delete from the internet. I might even do 3.0 & 3.0.1 too. Re: Swaret
A good question. It took me a while to figure it out. This posting answers the question. http://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php? ... usm#p39861Jack wrote:I was planing on it but not sure where this is "database-usm-20151210.xzm"
And it is not needed at this point. I forgot I still had it there.
That's ok, I do.EDIT

Re: Swaret
Past effort to work with swaret:
viewtopic.php?f=53&t=418
Must be read. Swaret has not been maintained for more than five years.
You should be better to work with slapt-get and gslapt used by zenlive. However, trying to work with gslapt brought us ( brokenman) to USM. More rustic is skackyd.
And there are others ...
About slapt-get:
http://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=115
And finally here is why we moved from PPM to USM:
http://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=2919
After you will have read all these threads you will understand why there is a move to nemesis with another distribution as base: the package manager is included.
A guy gets tired to try to reinvent the wheel. And this guy is brokenman, I presume. 8)
