Well not lovin it so far. Can't get to the top menu items. F3 & F4 don't work.
No Xorg log. ls /var/log/ and I was logged in as root.

While you're in the console, run some commands, you might get some info.....dmesg is good....ifconfig...
dmesg is HUGE. Any grep search string that would help pull useful information out?
ifconfig not showing the Wi-Fi connection.

Yes, I am using the function keys not cap F and 3.
You can also run "cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | less" and scroll through it and hit "q" to get out.
Interesting. Enter scrolls down, what key scrolls up?
Jack wrote:@ Ed_P, Did that laptop come with Windows 10? If it did Microsoft might have something to do with it.
It did and I doubt it.
I did have to disable the Secure Boot option, which was expected.
What I heard they want to spy on us or our government. That why Windows 10 is FREE.
Don't believe everything you hear. MS is just looking to make money selling us things we took for granted, like MS games, to display ads when we do things that are free, like play MS games online.
I can't even boot my Windows 7 up any more without trying to do a upgrade to it.
I upgraded my Win 7 system to Win 10 and I like it. All my apps and settings and favorites and etc are still there. The start menu is the only thing different and not like Win 8 so I like it.
I made my backup Dec 18 2015. I had to restore it 1 time now.
EXCELLENT
Jack. So many people don't. You'll be happy to know Win 10 can restore Win 7 image backups. And creates backups using the Win 7 backup app. Since you have a backup, I suggest you try the Win 10 upgrade and if you don't like it, do your restore again. ;-)
