I´m trying to running it in my personal computer (laptop, i5, 8Gb Ram, 1TB HD, nVidia GC, Ubuntu desktop + MS WIndows 10) as well as in my work laptop (i5, 4 Gb Ram, 500 GB HD, Intel HD GC, MS Windows 7).
My original idea is to remove Ubuntu (It´s getting very commercial, I prefer Slackware) but i don´t want to run again on my laptop, as I need to use a root menu to choose between S.O. and I wasting to much time when I forgot it. Then I google for a Live and light Linux Distro and Porteus was the one with a better feedback.
My feedback: 80's -> MSDOS mainly; 90's Microsoft systems + Slackware or SUSE; 2000's Microsoft systems + SUSE and Ubuntu at latest; 2010's Microsoft systems and Ubuntu.
Returning to the USM issue:
Now, I´m at work, so I can´t check Porteus Distro, but, I have downloaded it from Porteus server (desktop version) yesterday, so the actual version. (On Porteus Webpage, it says 3.1 but not minor revision).
I have try in several ways from a brand new downloaded distro:
1. Try to update all at once. No way.
2. Try to update one by one, beginning from USM update. Same result.
3. Try to update from console mode. Same result.
Like "brokeman" exposed, I have try on different hourly bands, and same result.
I have tried that at home with my personal laptop and in my work laptop. My work laptop is under domain, with firewall (logical and physical) and all my company security issues, and my personal laptop has 2 different setups depending on the O.S. but I have tried in both and even, I had more problems trying from Ubuntu than Windows.
