porteus/save.dat dissapeared

This is the Newbie section, which is the right place for me
I had someone install Porteus 3.1 64bit, on my Lenovo X1 carbon. Actually it's a clean install, dual-boot with win7. screenshot: https://goo.gl/photos/6Fh24DwzDSxJXM2Y6
It worked fine, and had saved all my settings in the browser etc. It would boot fast and as long as I didn't choose the "always fresh" version I would have a great OS.
The person that installed it for me had configured it so I could save the settings such as browser addons, and wifi passwords.
Until I clicked update USM -> update all. I believe I didn't succeed as all I got was an error: "Missing database files"
Then the next time I booted up I got the message: https://goo.gl/photos/cnQeawoHAT1ckeJH8
"Searching for porteus-v3.1-x86-_64.sgn file
using from Porteus data from /mnt/sda3/porteus
setting up directory for changes
couldn't find porteus/save.dat Correct your cheat codes
Press Enter to continue booting
When I press Enter it will only boot into Always Fresh mode.
What shall I do now?
create a save.dat file? Or will that make matters worse?
