New to Porteus and few questions.

Post#1 by luko » 05 Oct 2015, 14:07

Hi i am Lukas and i am relatively new to Porteus, i use it for few months, linux more longer. I like Porteus, for its modularize system.

I use Porteus on NTFS partition on classic disc with 4GB porteus4k.dat posix dat container
i want know: its good put Porteus to NTFS partition but on SSD disc, are there available for NTFS features like trim and noatime

My second question is about aplications are there some sites with modules for porteus maybe some user created.

lot of thanks.

Hello Lukas.

Within Porteus is an app named USM. Start it, click on the menu's Update option then click on Update USM followed by Update All. This will get you the current database of all the apps available for your system. Once the updates are finished, exit USM then restart it. Then in the Search box enter the name of an app you are interested in and click on the Search button.

Have fun.

@francois
thanks for links

how porteus manage a multiple modules is posible to have etc. openbox and fluxbox module together loaded when they contains similar software? (openbox and fluxbox modules searched and find in this forum),

some time i use slackware there is not very hard to create new package like
1 unpack package somewhere
2 autogen and ./configure --prefix=/usr
3 mkdir /tmp/pkg/pkgname
4 make install --prefix=/tmp/pkg/pkgname
5 and go to /tmp/pkg/pkgname and generate with makepkg this package

its posible to generate packages hand without usm and create custom modules self? is there some handbook how to create porteus app? thanks
