Hi, new to Linux,

Trying to get porteus 3.1-i486 on Asus eeepc 1005PE

Followed the tutorial to install Porteus onto USB.
Did check sum, copied to the right partition, ran the installer with admin priviledge.
When I load the USB, I choose Graphics mode (LXQT).

After delaying for a few seconds, I get a black screen that says porteus data not found.

Help. :)

Hi kasakuri
Boot another PC with this usb, if possible, to verify that the Installation is OK.
(use the "allways fresh" mode)
or (just for a test)
boot the eeepc, at the boot-options screen choose allways fresh > hit the tab key
and add from=/dev/sdb1 > hit enter...try also sda1..

Hello, I've resolved the problem by switching USB sticks.

My 2GB USB stick(FAT32) for whatever reason was unable to load porteus.
However, my 4GB USB (FAT32) worked fine following the steps outlined in the tutorial.

Weird.

Any ideas on why?

Anyways, please mark this as solved.

Glad you got it sorted
I also have some thumbdrives which never boot, and a 2GB must be a fairly old one,no?
