SOLVED Virtualbox Builder Major Issue

Post#1 by anandisrocking007 » 11 Jul 2015, 07:12

Hi I think the virtualbox Builder is not getting the link to the virtualbox file everytime I ask it to build a virtualbox Module it makes a file of 4KB (I have attached the file below).

Does anyone know why this is happening is it because virtual box had a major release and now it is at version 5.0

Also I want to ask is that is the virtualbox Guest addition module to be installed into Porteus running as a main or guest machine.

Has anyone made virtualbox v5.0 module yet if so can you please post a link below.

Or can someone give me the link to the version 5.0 of the virtualbox file from which the module is made by virtualbox Builder

From experience, unlike you, virtual box works as it should. The builder is a small script that fetchesand installs virtualbox on your system.

It seems that you are only facing data transmission issues. However, maybe I should try to build it now.

if you don't have fear grab from virtualbox site the last .run and build your package, you can use the script that make a module from the last change, but i don't remeber well how ,i have used time ago for the nvidia driver, but i think work well for virtual box too

hi ztrapl virtualbox check the kernel version so you have to have the kernel version installed on your system, only in this way the virtualbox build is ok and everyway you change kernel you have to rebuild the virtualbox module kernel. and the script into the popup show you how to resolve.

@ztrapl:
See for the error message:

Are kernel headers included in devel.xzm?

Ok. It seems that we hav a case. I have tried to build with the porteus vbox builder. The module does not work. This has been tested always fresh.

The module will be built, but then it will not appear in the panel menu.

Code: Select all

VBoxManage list vms

will yield no output.

Curious. The vbox builder works fine now. :Search:

I made this thread solved. I hope there is no problem with this initiative. Ain't it?
