hi, it is simple put the core.xzm in a directory,console: usquashfs core.xzm change what you have to change and mksquashfs to repack the core.xzm,porteus follow the slackware release so if slackware not change version porteus not change the version too,maybe you have to try kiosk edition based on gentoo,if you want software try to use sbopkg or usm,but if you need a new kernel version with devel package you can change kernel version without make a new initrd build a new kernel version,maybe increase speed.

well the short way i think is bring a txz package open it and put on the whole files into their respectives directories after the core.xzm unsquashfs, a big work,i have seen a good performance with the patched kernel like ck or liquorix patch,and i think hardware is big part of this environment that user call speed, but yes the console remain the best well not for me,not so good with keyboard.
