Need To Convert OOoLight To Help Publicize Porteus

Greetings!

Our home school recently received a donation of many dozen used 2gig drives from Baines Hardware and I'd like to Porteus install them and cram them with goodies to give out promising students at local schools. Because OOoLight in Windows works perfectly for its OOo half size, I'm hoping to convert the .deb version into a Porteus xsm module to achieve max apps cram in the little drives, but I'm having problems. Puppy has a sfs version so I know it works converted but our school is pure Porteus and would like to dissimate that. When I directly attempt to convert it stalls. When I uncompress the .gz modules within the .deb then try to convert them into a usm module I just end up with a module labeled "usr" that doesn't go. Any sage recommendations helpful!

Thanks for any assist!

1 - download rpm version
for i386
http://sourceforge.net/projects/educooo ... z/download

for x86_64
http://sourceforge.net/projects/educooo ... z/download

2 - extract tar.gz file
inside have a folder RPMS
convert everything to xzm
example:

Code: Select all

root@porteus:/home/guest/pt/RPMS# rpm2xzm *.rpm
3 - in desktop-integration folder
convert OOoLight1.1-freedesktop-menus-1.1-110.noarch.rpm to xzm
example:

Code: Select all

root@porteus:/home/guest/pt/RPMS# rpm2xzm /home/guest/pt/RPMS/desktop-integration/OOoLight1.1-freedesktop-menus-1.1-110.noarch.rpm
4 - copy all converted xzm to another folder and merge all xzm with this tool
http://freestyler.porteus-apps.org/scri ... rch_fs.xzm
example: (as root)

Code: Select all

root@porteus:/home/guest# mergexzm -g
Now you have OOoLight1.1 xzm module
Enjoy!

(Pretty hefty DEB 78.4 MB)

I have installed here OOolight and my method works is tested.
My internet connection is poor and I can't test if .deb file works fine if converted (need download and test).
Sometimes .deb not work.

Working for me also, so far. :good:

What about the /home/guest/Downloads/OOoLight_1.1_120606_LinuxX86-64_install_rpm/en-US/update file? Have you run it?

Thanks to everyone here, but unfortunately I've been unable to create a functional module with any (32bit) method that even shows up in a panel menu, yet no error messages! I'll keep trying thru the week and if I manage it I'll immediately upload it to Porteus Apps archives like everything I convert (which often balks at my upload attempts). No doubt it takes LOTS of RAM to convert this thing, as my non-techie attempts seem to've shown.

Till then, thanks,

Hi,

I have downloaded the rpm x86_64 version and converted to xzm module. Total size 69MB.
rpm file size is 89MB.

Download 64bit xzm module here:-
https://copy.com/Hk3UfH7I9W3Ng2qQ

Method used:-
1. Download x86_64 rpm from Slaxmax link
2. Extract all rpms in RPMS to ooolight1.1-1.1-110.x86_64-1rpm
3. Extract desktop-integration/OOoLight1.1-freedesktop-menus-1.1-110.noarch.rpm to ooolight1.1-1.1-110.x86_64-1rpm
4. Convert ooolight1.1-1.1-110.x86_64-1rpm folder to xzm

Can you create a 32bit version for jimwg, the OP?

That would SO help -- along with what method was used to convert it!

Thanks!

Why do you need OOoLight then? Image

I need OOoLight specifically for these tiny drives but generally I'm doing all that to contribute assorted apps to the Porteus community. Anything I can convert to xsm I do and try to pass on to the Porteus community to spare them the suffering and showing Porteus is user friendly! :)

Hi jimwg.

xzm created. Total size 61MB. I just noticed that this version is from 2012. So it maybe outdated.
I would suggest to use the libreoffice as it is updated very frequently. xzm size is around 115MB.

Download 32 bit version here:-
https://copy.com/9wKpsGOqM0CnIXYD

Method used:-
1. Download x86 rpm from Slaxmax link
2. Extract all rpms in RPMS to ooolight1.1-1.1-110.i586-1rpm
3. Extract desktop-integration/OOoLight1.1-freedesktop-menus-1.1-110.noarch.rpm to ooolight1.1-1.1-110.i586-1rpm
4. Convert ooolight1.1-1.1-110.i586-1rpm folder to xzm

I'm using 64bit version so have not tested the module.

Hi cttan.

Your program I tried, but it does not work desktop-integration and printeradmin.
I modified the program and re-created module Ooolight.
Also added module Ooolight1.1-microsoft-TrueType-fonts.xzm

Cttan, thanks for effort but was unable to render menus from your OOoLight take, same failing I had in trying to convert OpenOffice 4.1.1. :(

Anyway I managed to open a disk of my xsm converts since I can't upload them into Proteus-Apps.com

Hope you all can see this!
