How does one actually delete a file??? [solved]

LXQt 64-bit ISO

Each time I boot I delete the file from /home/guest/ with pcmanfm, and each time I reboot the file is back. I looked in the Trash folder and pressing the Del button brings up the option to "Move to Trash" but since the file, and all it's copies, are already in Trash, nothing happens.

Selecting the pcmanfm Tool Open as Root doesn't help either.

looks like you are not saving changes or you have something in /rootcopy with /home/guest path.
if you want to get rid of /home/guest permanently then unsquash core modules are remove it from there.

Code: Select all

guest@porteus:~$ su
Password:
root@porteus:/home/guest# cat /etc/porteus-version
Porteus-v3.1
root@porteus:/home/guest# cat /proc/cmdline
quiet from=/ISOs/Porteus-LXQT-v3.1-x86_64.iso changes=EXIT:/porteus3.1/changes/porteussave.dat extramod=/porteus3.1/Modules volume=40 ramsize=80%
root@porteus:/home/guest# ls /home/guest/
Desktop/ MSGames/ restores.sh* weather.sh*
Downloads/ backups.sh* sumpcmanfm.sh* xorg-touchpad.log
Fixes.sh* java-builder.sh* syndaemon.desktop*
MSGame.sh* poptrayu.sh* touchpad.sh*
root@porteus:/home/guest# ls /rootcopy/
/bin/ls: cannot access /rootcopy/: No such file or directory
root@porteus:/home/guest# ls trash/
/bin/ls: cannot access trash/: No such file or directory
root@porteus:/home/guest#
Actually, I just found out how to empty the Trash!! (RIGHT click on the Trash label in the left column of PCmanFM) Will have to see if the /home/guest/ file is finally gone when I reboot.

-edit-

Ah crap!! The trash is empty except for the problem file. And the problem is It has SPACES in it's name.

Been there, done that before. <sigh>
