Partition manager - too many /dev/loop

Post#1 by miguipda » 25 Oct 2014, 08:18

Hi,

when I open the Partition Manager or use a command line I could see there are so and too many /dev/loop from loop0 to loop60.

Could you lpease help me to understand :
- where does they come from ?
- for what are they used ?
- could I remove them without risks ?

Sincerely thanks and have a nice day.

Miguipda ;-)

KDE treats every module as a partition (modules are mounted on /dev/loop* pseudo devices) and displays them in file manager and partition manager. i was able to hide these loops from file manager by adding /etc/udev/rules.d/10-porteus-hide-loop-devices.rules to the system but this trick does not work for partition manager and i dont know how to fix it.
