How big must be the SAVE.DAT file?

Post#1 by odys03 » 15 Sep 2014, 05:22

As i use Porteus for first time I created a 512mb save.dat file. But as i use it more and more i fear if this file is not big enough.

Please i want some details about this file,
is everytime increased the data inside after the use?
what kind of data are saved inside?
if it reach the amount of 512mb will the system crash?

I have noticed that i can increase the mb of this container file if i want with the wizard, but if it is bigger this slows down the startup time and the logout of the system?

Thanks

It depends on what you intend to do with Porteus. If you are going to use it to surf the web and play games on the web you should be more than fine. If on the other hand you are going to install a lot of apps and games you may need a larger save.dat file. I have one Porteus system with a 256 MB save.dat file and one with a 128 MB save.dat but my main system is 512 MB like yours and is less than half full.
