Unable To Convert OpenOffice 411 in XZM Mod

Hi!

Like the subject line says, I'm unable to create a XZM module out of OpenOffice 4.1.1 I used both DEB 6 OpenOffice 4.1.1 installs and extracted them then used the XZM builder on the file and it still doesn't run, unlike 4.0.1 does. I'd like to upload a functioning module to the Slack/Porteus archives like I have for Bleachbit 1.4 waiting, but not if it won't run. I can furnish both my takes to anyone with the keen to check it out.

Thanks!

Hi jimwg,

Why don't you try LibreOffice. It is almost the same thing.

if you have Apache_OpenOffice_4.1.1_Linux_arch_install-deb_your-lang.tar.gz then extract it and convert all deb packages from DEBS (and desktop-integration) directory to xzm modules then you can merge these xzm modules to one xzm - very stupid way but should work

if you have Apache_OpenOffice_4.1.1_Linux_arch_install-rpm_your-lang.tar.gz then extract it, next extract all rpm packages from RPMS directory to one place, next extract openoffice4.1.1-freedesktop-menus-4.1.1-9775.noarch.rpm (it is in desktop-integration or any other freedesktop-menus package) to the same place, next build module from place where you have extracted mentioned packages.

4.1.1 works for me but I wont use my PC to build such large module.
You have mind and feelings. Be wise and clever.

There is a slackbuild for slackware 14.1 openoffice 4.11. the 32bit version is here:
http://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.1/ ... ffice.org/

I imagine you can manage to get the 64bit version! 8)

I've tried LibreOffice in and out for years, but it had little quirks I just can't get over from mu OOo days, and for me even the last versions had some nasty ones. No ranking down on it. It's a great app. It's just a matter of taste between two good products; like which do you like better, Corvettes or Firebirds? I REALLY want to get OpenOffice 411 at work on Porteus, not just for my sake but for surfers and app dabblers to see that Porteus is as up to date and cutting edge among apps as its creedo states. So I'll try to plug along converting this slackware version if I can.
