Application consisting from more xzm

Post#1 by helmut » 28 Apr 2014, 19:09

I have installed Krusader but it comes with dozen of dependencies.

1. Is there a way how to activate the whole folder at once?
2. Is there a specific order of activation required?
3. What if some of these dependencies are already activated used by other applications?

It doesn't matter what order they are activated and doesn't matter if you have doubled up on dependencies as long as they are slackware 14.1. You can highlight all the xzm modules with a file manager, right click and choose activate (if you're using KDE it is under open with>activate).

Since usm makes modules out of the sofware and its dependencies does it mean that shared depedencies like libs will be made into module with each usm 'instalation' of software which depends on them?

USM searches your current system for required libraries. For example if you want to download 'record-my-desktop' and a dependency of it is ffmpeg, then USM will search your system for ffmpeg. If it finds it already installed then it will NOT add this to the list of required dependencies as it is not required. It is already available. If it does not find ffmpeg it will add it to the list of files to download.

To activate all modules in a single folder from a terminal just use: activate /tmp/usm/*.xzm

This should only take a few seconds.
