Firefox issue

Hi everyone.
I am currently using Porteus 3 Mate and downloaded a custom ISO with Chrome as the browser. Generally, I'm very impressed with the speed and usability of Porteus.
I decided to try Firefox as well so downloaded the Firefox module and copied it into the modules folder. I do get both browsers now when I start up and both work. However, Firefox is very slow to resolve site names - if I enter any site address it will take 5-10 seconds with a status of connecting before the the page displays. Chrome connects almost instantly. I have tried using "always fresh", in case my saved settings were a problem, as well as downloading another ISO version with just Firefox but the problem remains. Finally, I tried it on another netbook - same issue.
I tried another live distro which contained Firefox and that worked normally. This was all done connected via WiFi and I haven't checked with a wired Ethernet connection but I don't think that will make a difference.
I can't see any settings in Firefox that would be relevant. Has anyone got any suggestions on what I could try?
Thanks!
