How to install hardware drivers made for Windows on Porteus

Post#1 by jmurrinux » 11 Apr 2014, 01:18

Hey forum, I would like to add two hardware peripherals to Porteus, but they only have Windows.exe extension drivers.

The peripherals I want to add are:
Sandisk™ Sansa Clip MP3 player, support page http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4303/
Porteus recognize Sansa Clip MP3 player but when I try to access the device I get this error: :Search:
The file or folder udi=/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.0/usb3/3-2/3-2.2 does not exist.
mtp:udi=/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.0/usb3/3-2/3-2.2/
Dell™ Keyboard model Y-UK-DEL1 see driver list here http://downloads.dell.com/Pages/Drivers ... x-755.html
When I was ubuntu user, ubuntu recognized my keyboard with all the gadget keys that come with it.

Would you please tell me how can I do that?

See you later, :friends:

I imagine that both devices are usb plugged in. Give us the output of:

Code: Select all

@porteus:~/Downloads# lsusb
Prendre son temps, profiter de celui qui passe.

a) maybe this will help:
On the Sansa main menu, with the player disconnected, push the menu button repeatedly past Music, Video, Voice, to "Settings." This is where you'll start. Push the center button, then the top button, "USB Mode." From there scroll to "MSC" and press the center button again. That's it. The player will, when connected, appear as a standard flash drive.
b) is it just about multimedia keys or keyboard does not work at all? if multimedia then this wiki may help:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ex ... board_Keys
Please add [Solved] to your thread title if the solution was found.

Thanks for you help fanthom, Sansa is now recognized and I can browse the files 8) . About the keyboard, it isn't broken, some keys are faded away, but I type without looking at the keys though. That's homework for me. As soon as I have time. I'll study that page you suggested to me and reply back here. You are very helpful!
:D
