Help for Firefox 27.0.1 (solved)

Recently I am into preparing Firefox 27.0.1 32bit (needless to say that currently I am on Porteus 3 KDE 32bit)
here is the list of rpm files deployed, taken from Magia Cauldron repo:
1. firefox-27.0.1-1.mga5.i586.rpm
2. libevent5-2.0.21-5.mga4.i586.rpm
3. libpng16_16-1.6.10-1.mga5.i586.rpm
4. libproxy1-0.4.11-5.mga4.i586.rpm

finally I got an error mentioning Sqlite version is outdated, someone from gentoo forum suggested to have "sqlite" updated
and I deployed libsqlite3_0-3.8.4.1-1.mga5.i586.rpm and it worked. After that, Firefox has started to work but could not show PNG and Jpegs, even it could not open firefox icons.

I ran firefox from terminal and i investigated pixbuf errors so deployed: libgdk_pixbuf2.0_0-2.30.6-1.mga5.i586.rpm and icons of firefox are back.

but pain never ends, and now firefox can't show any jpeg file on the net and spellcheker is gone, also on gtk applications in porteus Icons are gone after activating libgdk_pixbuf2.0_0-2.30.6-1.mga5.i586.rpm

I appreciate if you guys can help me rectify this. :)

you are on best way to destroy your system. remove all mageia packages, make sure you are saving changes and then

a) grab vanilla firefox from mozilla site:
http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

b) unpack it to /opt
c) make a symlink:

Code: Select all

ln -sf /opt/firefox/firefox /usr/bin/firefox
d) done.

this version will auto upgrade to the latest one (until some libs in porteus will be too old).
Please add [Solved] to your thread title if the solution was found.

Dear Fanthom

Yeah it was quite incorrect. :pardon:
By the way I have extracted the main firefox 24 module and replaced firefox 27 inside of it, and thanks God it is now updated.

I am not sure if what I did was correct or not, please advise.
Actually I was looking for a module that can be available every time I boot.
