[Solved] keepassx

On my Windows systems I use KeePass for user ids and passwords. I stumbled upon keepassx in the Porteus Package Manager and gave it a try. But it a) fails to open the .kdbx database file I use on Windows and b) it alters the file such that Windows then can't open it. Anyone else having problems with keepassx?

The error that keepassx gives when I enter my Password is:

Error

The following error occurred while opening the database:
Wrong Signature

I am certain I am entering the correct password. I've clicked on the Password's view icon and seen it.

try create new database within Porteus and then open it in Windows. Probably keepassx for windows use another method for storing passwords or try wine.

I tried wine, mostly red, and it didn't help. :D :

I know the Windows version of keepass is current and suspect maybe the keepassx version isn't, or maybe because the database file is on a NTFS partition.

Nope, KeePassX, an app separate from KeePass, is not compatible with the current KeePass 2.x database format. :wall:

There is a newer version of KeePassX which will read the KeePass 2.x database but it is in alpha release mode and has been since May 2012. Anyone know if a xzm module exists for it?

A temporary solution, I used KeePass 2.x to create a 1.x version of it's file and the 1.x version is readable by KeePassX. :good:
