The latest script worked. Great, thanks.

Only one thing, the test button didn't do anything that I could hear.

But that's only a very minor inconvenience.

I did try brokenman's kill `pidof command but pidof isn't present :-)

Now output is working I know the sound card and Porteus at least are talking so now I can start on the real task which is using the input.

I'll probably be back for more assistance soon.

Great!

The music on the test button is not very loud, so if you hit it while the volume was turned down or there's other sounds going on, you might not hear it. I was erring on the side of less obnoxious. If you don't hear it at all with the sound turned up in a quiet area, it might be that aplay didn't register the change in cards for some reason, but that seems unlikely IMO. I may have gotten a few strange looks on the bus while holding my laptop to my ear to listen for the test music :D

Hopefully the input works for you now, but let me know if it doesn't. I don't think I've ever used a sound input device on my system but I'll do what I can to help out, it should be similar to what we've done for output.
Please take a look at our online documentation, here. Suggestions are welcome!

If do not want the students listen to the radios instead of pay more attention to their studies and what their teachers are teaching then using the audio jammer is a helpful method.

Hi Ahau,
Thanks for great script to solve sound card conflict. I use it on new AMD ATI VGA 983d device cause vga_detect does not recognize so not to install appropriate driver.
I use Porteus 2.1 XFCE 64.
Your script works wery well but need some improvements. :good:
On XFCE desktop I can not access sound device volume management (you know it stored right side of desktop bar) because of driver problem. So could you add volume level button on your gtk script? It'll be solve to sound driver problem.....

Thanks.....
