Im trying to install software from the debian part of the porteus package manager. It will let me download the packages but then when it comes to making them a module it just shows a blank area as if no package was downloaded......

Which packages did you tried to download. What is the version of porteus and the architecture of your computer?

I can confirm this behavior with porteus v. 2.1rc1 architecture 32 bit.

Look at the thread on the bugs for the bugs on v. 2.1 rc1. If has not been reported yet, you might have found a bug. :D

Confirmed. The command: ar x *.deb is failing due to a missing library (on this desktop) libbfd.

Unfortunately we have just wrapped up rc2 but I will fix this for v2.1 final or apply an update through ppm itself. Thanks for the report.

Please install binutils-2.22.52.0.2-i486-2.txz from slackyd and this will fix the error. I tested this on 32bit and it works.
