Want to install to HDD, can't find "Porteus Installer"

Post#1 by AnarisBell » 11 Mar 2013, 23:49

For some reason I can't seem to install Porteus to my hard drive. I was running version 1.2 I believe, fully installed on the same netbook computer with no issues. Wanted to try 2.0, ran into some issues and ended up wiping my hard drive (my choice, not a fault of Porteus!) with DBAN. That created a whole other slew of problems but long story short I cleaned it all up and now have:

-Blank hard drive with ext2 partition and nothing else
-Working bootable SD of Porteus 2.0

I booted up the SD, and looked for this "Porteus Installer" that all the official guides keep telling me to run to install. Can't seem to find it anywhere, I find the Razor stuff under system but no mention of a Porteus installer. I logged off and logged back in as root to see if that solved it, still can't find it.

This seems like the most newbie question in the world, but where can I find that darn installer??

Thanks so much for any help :)

It should be there under the 'system' menu. If you can't find it then i would make sure that the ISO you download matches the md5sum found on the server. You may also start it from a console with: pinstaller
How do i become super user?
Wear your underpants on the outside and put on a cape.

Oh my god thank you! Hahaha, I've been dealing with computer stuff all day trying to get this to work, and this was the silliest hangup to get caught on. I'm all set up now, excited to try 2.0!
