I'm searching old RC, betas or alphas of Porteus

Hi to all

This is my first post so here goes...
I'm looking for the RC, betas and alphas of Porteus both standard and XFCE only i486 ones, strange I know, it's just a personal obsession  , I have the standard i486 and XFCE i486 isos from 0.9 till 2.0 and I've been searching for the RCs and so for hours and only could find the 2.0 rc2 ones, do anybody know of a mirror which keeps them all?
Is there a complete history of released versions anywhere?
I suppose the 0.9 one was the first Porteus release, previous ones, 0.8, 0.7 and so were when it was named Slax Remix, correct?

Thanks in advance for any help.

welcome on board mazinger,

unfortunately we do not keep releases other than stable in our archive. development releases can contain not fully implemented features/serious bugs and so it's recommended to use stable only.

it's easier for us to support only final releases rather than final + dozen of alphas, betas and rc's....

porteus-v09 was nothing more than slax-remix-v09 re-branded to porteus (to let familiarize with new name).
i have deleted it from the archive as our first "real" release was porteus-1.0

slax-remix is still present on mediafire:

Cheers

I have an archive of every release we put out. What do you plan to do with them?

Hi fanthom, thanks for your words.

No problem, I thought I could find the RCs, betas and so in other sites but all sites I looked at only had links to the Porteus site and none kept a mirror or anything.

I was looking for a small distro for Internet but I wanted that it could set up 3g modems automatically or through a GUI, I wonder why it took till version 1.2 to implement that in Porteus, I suppose not many use HSDPA, 3G or whatever it is called, anyways I only could find LPS and Porteus for an easy 3g set up...

Cheers for you too

Hi brokenman, my first post and 2 administrators answering me, that's what I call "to enter through the big door (or red carpet)" :D
That's great, I only plan to test them or to "play" with them in a mountain of old laptops without HDD I have, I wouldn't have them online or anything like that, just for my personal use.
By the way, I was wearing the uderpants on my trousers and also wore a black cape on top of that but nothing, no super user, does the brand of the underpants matter?? :D

Perhaps you had them on inside out. A photo would help troubleshoot where the problem is, and if the underpants have a log .... well never mind.

I will do my best to start uploading all releases somewhere for nostalgia. Having some upload bandwidth issues at the moment. Of course only the most recent version of Porteus is officially supported.

That's a possibility and no, no log on them. they were clean... but I think the problem is that you forgot to say that the ones you have to wear on your trousers are the underpants of Gisele Bundchen or that is for being a super-mega-user-with-a-smile-on-his-face?, that is going to be impossible or too expensive so I think I better try to boot to root... :D

Thanks for that and also for the 32 bit version of Porteus...

I simply can't upload anything above 200Mb via online storage services. I've tried everything over the last week. scp, ssh, rsync, http all fail after some time. I suspect my new ISP or the router they supplied of some dodgy bandwidth shaping. Will find a good old ftp server to upload these all to. It should be around 7 files of 300Mb.

You can find older rc versions here. I am continually uploading as time permits. If anybody has old versions please let me know if you have something that is missing.

I was looking only for the i486 ones so as you uploaded the 64bit ones too, I suppose that is going to be a permanent downloadable archive?. Thanks again for that.

Which one is the v1rc1-i486?, the only rc in the v1.0 was the rc2 (Distrowatch) and that was a 64bit only and the 1.1 doesn't have an rc1 at all as per that site.

If we had an rc2 then there was certainly an rc1 preceeding it. Whether it made distrowatch i am unsure, but it is available in any case. I will upload more as time permits.

Sure, simply thought that rc1 didn't reach Distrowatch because it was not a public release, something only for developers or tested privately or so.

Come to think of it you are absolutely correct. Our first official release was v1.0 and there were in fact three release candidates which were not posted in the announcement section (hence never made distro watch). The first public release was the v1.0 final at the end of June 2011. Good times. This means the rc1 on the server is 'never before seen by the public' and missing many extras that were pulled late in v1.0 rc2.
