Re: Newby's Sound & Net Woes

Post#20 by Dan » 10 Feb 2013, 06:46

I hope that was it ? The only way to get it here was to break it up, copy, then paste . . . . please let this be what's needed to get sound, and the thing connected to internet !

Thanks tons for your patience

@Dan

would be much easier if you could:

Code: Select all

upload saved report to pastebin.com -> post URL here
anyway - you have one sound card serviced by snd_hda_intel driver so all should be ok. please run 'alsamixer' command in console and make sure that all channels are unmuted (press 'm' to mute/unmute) and sound is set to maximum (up and down arrows).
in case of troubles please make a screenshot of alsamixer console, upload to tinypic.com and post URL here.

WNA3100 is bit complicated under linux. you will have to compile ndiswrapper first (windows driver emulator) and do some other tweaks.
please make sure you are saving changes and then follow this HOWTO:
link
this one also may be useful as contain additional tweaks:
link2

if you get it working then add 'modprobe ndiswrapper' to /etc/rc.d/rc.local instead of 'echo ndiswrapper >> /etc/modules'

good luck!
Please add [Solved] to your thread title if the solution was found.
