I somehow had a feeling the next post would be something void of substance, lacking a direct answer and linking out to somewhere else with more of a clue. 'Coding into the pipeline' ... remind me what the pipeline is made of again?

Anybody can complain and make aggressively empty claims without offering useful advice to help the distro and community grow.

I hope you get some change back from your 2 cents.

the kernel's pipeline is made out of - and for - C and C++ code exclusively. My dobre hombre.
... and, of course, I must stand corrected before your genius, the same powerful insight which was eager to incorporate a broken-ass cryptoloop into his shiny new distro, the one the whole linux world new about for... ohh about 12 or so years.
I hate to think how I have imposed on this fine, creative process by briefly mentioning the (apparently impossible to grasp) concept of loop devices and how/what they were designed to do. (Like journaling file systems +encryption impossibilities.)
Fortunately you managed to overcome all of these - and other - distractions and so when one cranks up this fine product of yours from any SSD drive, now "only" 20% of all the clockcycles are wasted by its kernel to reorder data request which is, of course, perfectly unnecessary since, as all know (except you), ssd seeks are all linear.
This is a tiny snapshot of the never-ending highlights.

From the "average user"'s perspective (your target audience) - as it is voiced by those users;
"Porteus is just a distro where virtually none of the packages work and its ever more bloated just trying to hold itself together." (Its really just stating the obvious.)

Hey, here is a novel idea; If you just wanted a broken-ass email client for your own, personal use why go through all this trouble? Why not just pick-up a second-hand iPhone on eBay and start learning the kb layout on that?! your

Dude, 3 years ago you couldn't find the terminal on a gnome desktop if someone led your hand onto the icon. - And while your efforst were admirable (and misguided, as it turns out) please, disabuse yourself of the fantasy that you actually know something.
Cheers

@pizarr0,

spreading the FUD is what you are really good about.
in other thread you wrote:
For those who are not familiar with the past 7 years of Linux kernel development (since 2004), here are (remain) the problems with "cryptoloop" (which is why cryptoloop was curiously missing from Slax despite the fact that it may seem like an obvious addition. Thomas was keenly aware of the problem...):
link:
http://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=725#p5531

now the fact (grepping slax-6.1.2 kernel config):

Code: Select all

guest@porteus:~$ grep LOOP .config
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_LOOP=y
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_CRYPTOLOOP=m
do you have anything to add? no? thank you.
Sure, I'll be happy to;
Slax 7

i was looking for a direct answer to the problem risen in this thread. and OFC you didn't have the solution.
locking as thread went really bad.
