[Solved] Flash in Firefox - Porteus v1.2

Post#1 by Sagittarius » 22 Jul 2012, 19:22

I have both Porteus v1.1 and v1.2 Xfce installed on HD. Version 1.1 plays youtube videos outright in Firefox with no problem whereas v 1.2 does not: when I press the "play" arrow on the video the screen goes blank and nothing happens.
Any ideas?

Hi, Sagittarius,

Perhaps your processor isn't compatible with the latest flashplayer? secipolla reported issues with this here: http://porteus.org/forum/viewtopic.php? ... 1341#p9714

I've repackaged an older version of flashplayer that I happened to have lying around. Please download the relevant module for your porteus ISO's architecture (32-bit or 64-bit), place it in /porteus/modules/, and activate (or reboot), and let us know if that resolves the problem. If so, then perhaps we should load the older version into PPM alongside 11.2, and inform users with affected hardware to use the older version.

64-bit: http://porteus-xfce.googlecode.com/file ... 1_Ahau.xzm
Please take a look at our online documentation, here. Suggestions are welcome!

Hi Ahau,

I downloaded your 32-bit file following the instructions and I confirm that videos now work in version 1.2, so that was the solution. Thanks!
