No Password Required at Login

Trying to force a password at boot, but for some reason Porteus displays the login prompt, but then continues to load the OS without waiting for user input. I have gone into System Settings and turned off "Enable Auto-Login", but still no way to force a login and password at boot. I'm stumped and need some assistance.

Would appreciate it if someone would point me in the right direction. I'm using a plain vanilla unmodified download of Porteus ver 1.1. I searched this forum, but had no luck finding any info on this problem.

Thanks guys

hi Tawny,

you have to edit /usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc (or /usr/share/config/tdm/tdmrc if you are using 32bit edition) and change 'AutoLoginEnable=true' to 'AutoLoginEnable=false'.
if you are using lxde then edit /etc/lxdm/lxdm.conf and change 'autologin=' to '#autologin='

in porteus-1.2 final you will be able to us 'noautologin' cheatcode to get the same effect.

Cheers

Thanks fanthom.

I'm using lxde so I modified lxdm.cfg per your instructions. Works great. Looking forward to v1.2.
