authentication issue

Let me start by saying I am newest NEWBIE there is ! I know a few commands but that is all.

I have successfully installed v5.01 (x86) onto a USB thumb drive and am able to boot into Porteus desktop.
My issue is...I tried to install or access (not sure which ??) a browser so I could get on the Net. I used the Browser Selection and Update Tool and selected what I thought was a browser (none of the browser names looked familar to me). I selected one and it tried to run but gave the following error...
"Authentication is needed to run '/usr/bin/env DISPLAY=:0.0 XAUTHORITY=/ ...pt/porteus-scripts/gtk-browser-update' as the super user. " It is asking me to enter a password for the Root account. I don't recall creating a Root user account/password. Should I have done that as part of the install process ? How do I get past this ? Any and all help will be appreciated.

ps - I apologize if this is the wrong forum folder to post this question to. I tried searching various folders to see if someone else had this problem but after about 45 mins of searching I gave up and just posted here. If I need to post somewhere else please let me know.
