Is it possible to enable the on-screen keyboard? I couldn't find how. The computer always has 2 working USB - enough only for a USB flash drive and a mouse. And in general it would be good if the virtual keyboard icon was always visible from the moment of installation, ideally also to the right of each input field.

then from what I understand you are using porteus kde. I don't use kde and so I have no idea if it has a virtual keyboard included but I think precisely that is more of a feature specific to the dm you are using.
I did a search on the fly and found this::

Can this be of any help?

I just decided to switch to Cinnamon because KDE is really heavy for a computer.

Hi IgorLebedev
I use xvkbd-4.1-x86_64-1salix15.0
It is very easy to modify and I really like using the right mouse button for shifted characters.
