Porteus data not found. Always for sames x86_64 pc

Post#1 by benjibasson » 09 Dec 2023, 19:45

Hi
I have a problem to boot Porteus V4 on somes computers from sames USB-pendrive
General Udisk/dev
sdb2
fat32
UUID 3B09-8F02
/dev/sdb2 mounted on /dev/sdb2 on success computers
Label Porteus
flags boot, lba
Porteus V4 because Igel has 1Go ram and I need to copy2ram to ffmpeg on the smb network
On an old igel via technologie, it work fine but on an old HP ( both designed in 2012) and on other IGELs amd/intel designed in 2015-2020 it fail to boot ( more exactly it fail to find \mnt\sdb2\porteus\porteus-v4.0-x86_64.cfg because it ignore delay=20 it say from= cheatcode is incorrect ( from=3B09-8F02) because sdb2's uuid is 3B09-8F02
from=/mnt/sdb2, from=/dev/sdb2, from=/dev/sdb also say from= cheatcode is incorrect although
from cheatcode.txt v4
Examples:
'from=/dev/sdb2' will attempt to load unpacked Porteus ISO from
the second partition on your second drive.
print cash without delay 20s (althought I have append delay=20 to searsh on all devices, only on fail PC)
Porteus data not found.
You are maybe using an unsupported boot device (eg. SCSI or old PCMCIA). Workaround: Copy the directory porteus from your boot device to an IDE/SATA disk, eg. to /mnt/sda1/porteus or C:\porteus. Then try to boot again. Make sure that your boot parameters (cheatcodes) are correct. In case of booting over network check if the driver for your NIC is included in initrd image...
in fact in the busybox I notice that /dev/sda internal ssd are mounted but /dev/sdb2 is not because /mnt/sdb* are all missing
here is the movie of failing and success with same key at same time, same append on both X86-64 computers
https://transfert.free.fr/tERynLN

here is the dmesg for failing PC

@benjibasson,

If using a UUID, then cmdline should be "from=UUID:your UUID/porteus directory"

I don't use "from=/mnt/sd#".....I have better success with "from=/dev/sd#/porteus directory"
