Multiple save.dat containers at once

Fat 32 has 4GiB (4 GB ?) limit for file size. I was curious if two or more save.dat containers could be used simultaneously, bypassing that limit on fat32 partitions.

No. But there are other options. Save large files directly to the harddrive/USB drive, save changes to multiple modules.

BTW My save.dat files are usually 512MB and usually half full.

Thanks Ed_P

I was curious because many topics refer to the limit regarding the savefile on fat32.

Thanks for your reply.

1. Yes, rename save.dat to save.xzm and place it in modules folder.
2. Another but much more difficult method is to add changes2 changes3 and so on cheatcode to linuxrc.
3. What do you keep in your save.dat - maybe you can keep it in fat formatted place by using symlink to this.

Hi tome.

I remember now reading about changing to .xzm. That would solve the file size limit problem and provide for multiple modules at once.

The changes 1-2-3 cheatcode is cool too.

I used save.dat up to a few years ago. Always on ext4, so no problems with size. Now I save small changes for individual programs to .xzm and strip away all but what I want. Most of them are 4k in size.
