How to encrypt the bootable Porteus USB drive

Post#1 by appEnigma » 29 Jun 2023, 05:30

Hi,

I have created a USB Drive with Porteus MATE v5.0. But I would like to encrypt the USB drive so that while booting it will ask for password to decrypt and then start the process.

Is there a way to achieve that ?

Instead of encrypting the whole USB drive you can use the option to create an encrypted .dat container (in which the settings are saved)
А bit outdated information but:
http://www.porteus.org/component/conten ... d-one.html
Porteus v5.01 KDE x86_64

Will that help ? During boot the .dat container will be checked. It will cause problem while booting right ?

Is your current save.dat file causing problems when booting?

No. Current .dat is not encrypted. It's working very well. I have not tried encrypting it as I am unsure of the results.

Make a backup copy, encrypt the current file, reboot, report your results. :)
