PXE booting Porteus Desktop

Post#1 by pxefan » 27 Dec 2022, 12:54

Is PXE booting Porteus Desktop still expected to work or is it an abandoned feature? I tried setting up the server with the "pxe" cheatcode, but it didn't work. Using the script from inside a running Porteus Desktop failed as well due to a missing mount point. After manually creating the mountpoint, the script starts the server components and a separate VM can load kernel and initrd via PXE from the Porteus Desktop server, but the initrd fails to load network driver modules. With only the loopback network device, udhcpc fails to get an address, obviously, and the NFS mount is impossible, at which point the client drops to a rescue shell.
