[Solved] Error creating save file.

The Porteus installation is on a fat32 usb. Using the Porteus save file manager I tried to creat a dat file but I keep getting the error: "Sorry <where I choose> is inside the live filesystem. You must store your change file outside aufs"

Can I please get some guidance as to where I can save the file. Alternatively, if it is impossible using fat32, can someone guide my eyeballs to a source for how to best prepare a usb stick for Porteus. Thanks.

[Edit] Solved. I called the file savefile. I put the savefile.dat file in the porteus directory. Then I changed the line in /boot/syslinux/porteus.cfg from APPEND changes=/portues to APPEND changes=/porteus/savefile.dat.

hi, welcome to porteus forum :)
i suppose the question is: where are you trying to create the dat file?
"outside aufs" pretty much means someplace mounted ie. /mnt/some_device eg. just guessing your usb: /mnt/sdb1

Thanks for the quick reply. What would be a suitable place that I can choose in the Porteus Save File Manager?

Inside the ISO the USB_INSTALLATION.txt file would be a good place to start. :) And this posting of mine: UEFI and Legacy - at the same time? (Post by Ed_P #83418)

Any place other than the /EFI and /boot folders. /porteus like you chose is good. Mine is in a directory in it called /changes, thus /porteus/changes/save.dat for the file.
