can confirm, if you're talking about "left handed mouse" switch.. reverse scroll seems to be broken too..
not clear as yet why.. even using dconf directly has no effect.. all works okay in mate, though..

here's a quick fix for now: fallback to an earlier version:
links removed see here: Switching Mouse Buttons (Post by ncmprhnsbl #88469)

just swap out the 003-cinnamon.xzm in your install..
(if you're doing this from the running system, rename (003-cinnamon.xzm>003-cinnamonxzm), don't delete a mounted module unless using copy2ram)
if you're using a changes file or folder, there may be issues with dconf or gsettings schemas so it might be easiest to start fresh..
in the meantime i'll continue to investigate this... next step: recompile the full cinnamon stack..

OK...that works. This is a 'running TEST system' on 16 GB USB, and it is not remembering my panel settings right now...nor my root boot login. Getting some kind of different login window after Automatic boot - large green background that won't let guest or root boot in. Sorry, don't know the terminology here yet. Can boot if I use the Text Mode, into TTY, then login 'n password 'n startx, but its not remembering settings, at this point.

I'm going to leave this Test USB for now, start a new installation on another Test USB 'n start "fresh" as you also mentioned. I'll update when I see how it all turns out. Thanks for the help! :worship:

Great...that method worked! Had to do a "fresh" installation. Stumbled around for a few hours+++ trying to grasp what you were saying (I made it more difficult than needed). Was about to give up, then decided to read your advice one more time - narrowed my focus to "just swap out the 003-cinnamon.xzm in your install.." - and it came together...duuuh! \o/ ’Hippity hip Hoorah’ \o/

:good:
i've removed the links above^ , because i've uploaded the older cinnamon module (version 5.2) to the server and updated to ISO to match:
so for any other leftys, you can get the module from:
<your preferred mirror>/<ARCH>/Porteus-v5.0/modules/003-cinnamon.xzm
where: <your preferred mirror> is one of http://porteus.org/porteus-mirrors.html
and <ARCH> is i586 or x86_64
anyone who's already got the original ISO (cinnamon 5.4) and doesn't need a left handed mouse, should be fine to continue with it..
and when we figure this bug out, we'll push another update..

Is there a command a user can run that shows what version of Cinnamon they are running? :%)

I'm now using the new Cinnamon ISO that ncmprhnsbl uploaded yesterday. Just ran inxi -F and it shows Cinnamon 5.2.7. System Settings > System info shows the same 5.2.7 Cinnamon version.

Thanks Karmi. Both inxi -F and System Settings > System Info show I have 5.4.2.

(but inxi's default dark blue labels on the black background are very hard to read. -c 5 and -c 7 are better options)
