How are you running Porteus; USB drive, ISO, harddrive install, Grub2 menu? How much RAM does the machine have? What are you doing with Porteus when it stalls; watching a movie, downloading an album, playing a game, surfing the web, installing an app?
We were all new to Linux at some point. I was new about 10 yrs ago and I'm still a novice.

Sorry for a very late reply, but here i am.
Porteus was ran in copy2ram, the machine had 12GB ram and lastly Porteus stall after a few second later after graphical user interface is loaded.

Hard to pinpoint from this distance what the issue is. However, you can narrow things down by doing some experiments with "cheatcodes" - which are kernel parameter modifications you can do during boot.
My first thought would be to try the "nomodeset" option, or perhaps "acpi=noirq". There are many others.
Check out the nice Porteus FAQ for more info:
http://www.porteus.org/faq/desktop-faq.html#sixteen
And a bit more info on how to test things like the addition of
nomodeset
etc:
http://www.porteus.org/tutorials/26-gen ... -them.html
This might help narrow things down as you try certain options if not for an overall fix, at least a possible pathway to explore further that you may need to make permanent for that specific hardware.

Hi everyone,
To the author : If you are using internet to download a file of 1 or 2GB and default download folder is on USB it freezes Porteus.
If this is the case, change download folder of the browser to one which is on your hard drive. In my case porteus froze 3 to 4 times because of this issue.
Thank you, thank you to Admin for accepting my request to post on the forum and HUGE THANK YOU FOR THIS AMAZING OS!
