the castlabs demo(big buck bunny) is playing ok in firefox 65 in arch .. i'll check out porteus later.. afaiui firefox comes with widevine plugin:
Widevine Content Decryption Module provided by Google Inc.
This plugin enables playback of encrypted media in compliance with the Encrypted Media Extensions specification. Encrypted media is typically used by sites to protect against copying of premium media content. Visit
https://www.w3.org/TR/encrypted-media/ for more information on Encrypted Media Extensions.

I'm aware that Firefox can auto-install Widevine plugin. Actually I wrote a
tutorial 2 years ago teaching how to watch Netflix on Porteus x64.
You have to pay attention that not all videos from Castlabs are DRM protected. If you click on a DRM sample you should see a tooltip at the right of the video (while it plays!) with something like:
Code: Select all
PROTECTION: ENCRYPTED
DRM used: [something]
Here's another sample:
https://bitmovin.com/demos/drm
On Firefox I get:
Code: Select all
Detected [ICON], using widevine
License request failed
(DRM_FAILED_LICENSE_REQUEST)
I'm suspecting that our ffmpeg build is broken somehow...
Thanks, guys!

@neko, confirmed! It works even with other Firefox versions. It seems to be a problem related to our recent ffmpeg build for internal test (i.e. Porteus 5).
Thanks!

nope, it's working for me with devel version and firefox 64 (it even prompted to enable drm for me and updated the plugin automatically)
EDIT and now firefox 65

But this is a Firefox thing. What really matters is the video being played. Is it? Even
this one?

OK, I tested with a clean ISO and it worked indeed. There's something (a module, rootcopy) messing my system.
Thanks!
